Reasons to call 911...(1st ed.)
1. To take your temperature. ($400+ thermometer...also we only carry rectal thermometers)
2. Someone is angry at you (why not call 911 and have them committed).
3. You fell someplace, took a cab home, and called 911 to go to hospital (although the cab is still in the driveway).
4. You're fatigued.
5. You're not sleeping well.
6. You're lonely.
7. You want to be seen faster.
8. You go to one hospital, get tired of waiting, and are waiting in your car to be taken to a second hospital.
9. You're drunk (alcoholism is not a disease...it's a lifestyle).
10. You've been sick for a week (and you want to go to hospital at 2am).
11. It's your first day on your new job and you don't like it.

Here's a new one from this week:
12. You sat on a poisonous caterpillar.
Seriously, I still have the caterpillar; they brought it in a ziploc.

hmmm...none of those reasons would be from a shift we worked together, huh? :-D Ah, life is great! Get this...out here in the west...they have "stupid people" laws. Literally, that is what they are called. If you drive your car into water and get stuck...the "stupid driver" law states that you have to pay for the cost of the rescue. And they also have a "stupid climber" law for all those rock loving, thrill seeking idiots who get stuck on the side of a cliff! They are fined with the price of their rescue too. Isn't that great!!! Ha, ha! I wish Greenville would catch on. That would be a TREMENDOUS source of revenue! Might even fund EMS. ;-) (Just for the record...I am not against rock climbing or thrill seeking in general. Just know when you have reached your limits and allow yourself the freedom to stop before you get really stupid.)

And you found out about these "stupid" laws how?? Did you have to get rescued while you were in the Grand Canyon??
