New Happenings

Oh boy, am I excited!! Although, I shouldn't count my chickens before they hatch.

GCEMS has been told they will be receiving more funding from the county council. With this funding will come a 5% rase for all public safety personnell (highly needed).

We are also supposed to get one 24/7 ambulance, one 24/7 QRV (quick response vehicle- Ford F-250 staffed with one paramedic as a first responder), and four 12-hour ambulances. This will give our fleet 3 Rescue Trucks, 6 QRV, and 15 24/7 ambulances + 4 power shift ambulances (19 ambulances total during the busy times).

This has tentatively been passed by the Finance committee in the County Council. All it needs is two more votes by the County Council members (it has already passed once). Since GCEMS is really underworked and understaffed with only 14 ambulances, the addition will be greatly needed (although we still need more).

The only question I have is why the GCSO (sherriff's office), which is funded by the same County Council, can get a brand new SWAT truck, a brand new Bomb Squad truck, and 20+ brand new police cruisers, while GCEMS had to turn in three ambulances to receive two...hmmmm...very interesting...

New poll to the right...
